Alpha-1 Security Program
Baxter has created a new patient assistance program, Alpha-1 Security
After listening to patients and healthcare professionals in the Alpha-1 community, Baxter has created a patient assistance program called Alpha-1 Security. Previously we asked patients who use ARALAST NP therapy to collect, maintain and redeem paper certificates in order to be eligible to receive Baxter therapies at no cost. We are happy to announce that patients no longer need to worry about managing certificates, and the waiting period has lessened. We believe these are important benefits to our program.
We also have expanded our assistance to embrace all Alpha-1 patients, including newly diagnosed patients and those who are not currently using ARALAST NP therapy. Anyone who requires Alpha-1 therapy, experiences a lapse in insurance or is underinsured and meets the program's eligibility requirements can access ARALAST NP therapy at no cost.
To sign up for the Alpha-1 Security Program, please either:
- Call the ARALAST NP AATmosphere Program* at 1-866-272-5278 for assistance; or
- Print the enrollment form, which upon completion may be faxed to 1-800-752-0595 or mailed to: PAREXEL, P.O. Box 230906, Centreville, Virginia 20120.
As a leader in the production of biotherapeutics, Baxter has a responsibility to create programs that benefit those who depend on our therapies. We also understand that navigating the health insurance landscape is often complex and challenging. We hope you agree that expanding our AATmosphere program is another example of our unwavering commitment to the Alpha-1 community.
*Existing AATmosphere patients need to provide additional information in order to qualify for Alpha-1 Security.
ARALAST NP [Alpha1-Proteinase Inhibitor (Human)]
ARALAST NP is indicated for chronic augmentation therapy in patients having congenital deficiency of A1-PI with clinically evident emphysema. ARALAST NP is not indicated as therapy for lung disease patients in whom congenital A1-PI deficiency has not been established.
The effect of augmentation therapy with ARALAST NP on pulmonary exacerbations and on the progression of emphysema in alpha1-antitrypsin deficiency has not been demonstrated in randomized, controlled clinical trials.
