Preparing For A Doctor's Visit

Preparing For A Doctor's Visit

Many doctors' crowded schedules are reducing the time they get to spend with their patients. You want the best care possible, so a bit of preparation on your part will allow you to get the most out of your office visit.

Describe your symptoms and feelings as fully as possible.

It's better to give your physician too much information than too little.

List all the medications you are currently taking ahead of time.

Don't forget to include dosage information, and any known medical allergies you have.

Know your medical history.

It's a good idea to review your medical history and note important landmarks–operations, previous serious illness, family history–ahead of time, especially if it's your first visit.

We've put together a downloadable form to help you prepare for a visit to your doctor.

We think you will find that with a little advance preparation, and an understanding of what to expect during your visit, you can help ensure your physician tends to your needs.
