Insurance Assistance
Insurance coverage is often an issue of concern for Alphas and their families. Baxter offers services specifically designed to assist Alphas with these issues.
Baxter is pleased to provide the Alpha-1 Security Program, a way for eligible users of augmentation therapy to continue to receive their treatment without charge in the event of a lapse in private insurance.
Baxter's Department of Healthcare Economics offers education, support, and advocacy to patients and their healthcare providers, acting as a resource to those who rely on our therapies.
Patient Services Incorporated (PSI) is a non-profit organization, supported by Baxter, which may offer help with billing and reimbursement issues.
ARALAST NP therapy is available through a network of Specialty Pharmacies. One of the services offered by specialty pharmacies is assistance with reimbursement and insurance issues.
Alphas who have no insurance and are financially disadvantaged may qualify to receive ARALAST NP therapy for a limited time through Baxter upon eligibility. For information please call the Baxter Insurance Helpline 1-866-ARALAST (1-866-272-5278).
ARALAST NP [Alpha1-Proteinase Inhibitor (Human)]
ARALAST NP is indicated for chronic augmentation therapy in patients having congenital deficiency of A1-PI with clinically evident emphysema. ARALAST NP is not indicated as therapy for lung disease patients in whom congenital A1-PI deficiency has not been established.
The effect of augmentation therapy with ARALAST NP on pulmonary exacerbations and on the progression of emphysema in alpha1-antitrypsin deficiency has not been demonstrated in randomized, controlled clinical trials.
